Dr Jamal Rifi, the GP who once built a COVID-19 testing clinic in his front yard, has been in the Middle East working to bring home the so-called ISIS brides and their children.
The group of 34 Australian women and children have been held in a Syrian detention camp for seven years following the defeat of the Islamic State caliphate in 2019.
The Federal Government has repeatedly said it will not help with their repatriation, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declaring he has “nothing but contempt” for the women.
But Dr Rifi, a prominent Muslim community leader in Sydney, thinks differently.
