UK doctors have rejected the adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism across the NHS, saying it will have a “chilling effect” on the freedom of doctors to speak out about Israel’s alleged atrocities in Gaza.
Two weeks ago, AHPRA said it would use the definition to guide its regulatory work.
Under the alliance’s examples, anti-Semitism includes denying Jewish people the right to self-determination, denying the Holocaust or comparing contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
Critics say it conflates anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism.
