Chinese Medicine practitioner reprimanded after diet puts toddler in hospital

A Chinese medicine practitioner known for his celebrity weight loss programs has been reprimanded after his restrictive diet plan landed a toddler with type 1 diabetes in hospital. 

Shuquan Liu, whose clients reportedly included TV host Eddie McGuire and former PM Malcolm Turnbull, saw the three-year-old girl in early June 2017.

The toddler had recently been hospitalised and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Mr Liu did not contact the girl’s treating doctors or access her medical records, the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
