A medical clinic raked in $100,000 a week with its owner using it as a front to sell anabolic steroids and dole out prescriptions pre-signed by a doctor, a court has been told.

Robin James Taylor was arrested last week following a five-month investigation which culminated in raids on his medical clinic, his home and a factory.

Prosecutors told the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday that he was behind an “elaborate illegal scheme” selling human growth hormones, steroids and other drugs under the guise of being a doctor at his Melbourne Sports Medicine and Anti-Aging Science clinic.

During the raids, police allegedly found hundreds of vials of testosterone as well as a prescription book pre-signed by a legitimate doctor based in NSW who allegedly received $2000 a week in exchange for the business using the pre-signed prescriptions.
