Colorectal surgeon Dr Andrew Hunter, who has died in a suspected drowning, has been remembered as “a good person who made a difference to a lot of people’s lives”.

Dr Hunter, 69, was pulled from the ocean unconscious on Kangaroo Island on Sunday evening.

He was holidaying with his wife Jane on the island just off Adelaide when he died.

His brother-in-law Richard Hockney said Dr Hunter, who had only recently retired, was “an incredibly caring person”, while dozens of comments on Facebook remembered him as a respected medical figure and kind doctor.
