Community interns? GPs tell their warts-and-all stories

GPs say they are sick of lazy doctors using them as a clinical dumping ground for tasks they don’t want to do themselves — whether it’s prescriptions, tests or treating them as “medical foxhounds” tasked with chasing up results on their behalf.
Following a request for real world stories, many have shared their ‘community intern’ experiences.
“This orthopod did an open reduction and internal fixation of my patient’s ankle. He then sent him to me for removal of stitches and pocketed $150 for doing bugger all. If I don’t do it, the patient suffers. He did the sutures in a funny way, and it took me half an hour to get them out.”
