The deaths of four babies at the Adelaide Women's and Children's Hospital will be referred to the state coroner for possible further investigation amid promises that "lots of eyes" will look into what went wrong.

Some doctors have argued that a lack of a paediatric cardiac surgery unit at the hospital may have
