Court denies mother custody of 11-year-oldĀ to prevent doctors prescribing puberty blockers

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia rejected a clinical psychologist's gender dysphoria diagnosis.

A judge has denied a mother custody of her 11-year-old because she would likely permit ā€œpotentially life-altering and damagingā€ treatment with puberty blockers.

Justice Andrew Strum backed the father and an independent lawyer representing the child, who both contended the child was ā€œgender exploratory, expansive or fluidā€ rather than gender dysphoric.

Both parents applied to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia for sole parental responsibility after the mother pushed for puberty blocker treatment for her child, named ā€œDevinā€ in the judgement.

The names of the family members and doctors involved were suppressed.
