Court tells doctors to accept interim 3% pay rise and commit to no more strikes

The Australian Salaried Medical Officers Federation NSW has campaigned for a 30% pay increase.

A judge has “strongly advised” doctors to accept NSW Health’s offer of an interim 3% pay rise following a 5000-doctor strike in April.

The Australian Salaried Medical Officers Federation NSW (ASMOF NSW) had wanted a 30% pay increase and a guarantee of 10-hour breaks between shifts.

But NSW Health had maintained its offer of a 3% interim pay rise, starting in the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2024, and a further 3% on or after 1 July 2025.

The offer had one condition: no further strike action before any decisions that finalised the matter.
