COVID-19 vax sparks rare Marie Antoinette syndrome: case

Both COVID-19 diagnosis and vaccination can be a shock to the system for many, but for one unfortunate man it was enough to turn his hair white.
US and Canadian doctors say the 44-year-old patient developed two separate acute hair-associated events — alopecia areata followed by canities subita, which is also known as Marie Antoinette syndrome.
According to the folklore, the French queen’s hair suddenly turned white the night before she was executed by guillotine in 1793.
Though cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19, such as hair loss, have been reported previously, the case authors say theirs is the first documented instance of Marie Antoinette syndrome in this setting.
