COVID-19 hospitalisations break records with half of Aussies having been infected

More Australians are in hospital with COVID-19 than ever before, as a serology study suggests almost 50% of Australians have been infected in the past six months.  

The virus is continuing to put general practices under huge pressure as the number of patients with COVID-19 is compounded by doctors and staff off sick or in isolation.

Dr Anita Munoz says it is now normal for her Melbourne practice to be down at least one doctor or staff member at any time.

“Receptionists often bear the brunt. They’ve had nearly three years of this. We’re concerned about their levels of burnout and attrition.
