CPD reforms: RACGP promises ‘no return to PLAN’

The RACGP is backing demands that doctors self-reflect on their practice under the medical board’s CPD regime, but there will be no return to its notorious PLAN module.
Last month, federal, state and territory health ministers signed off on minimum CPD standards, which from 2023 doctors will have to meet to remain registered.
It means virtually all of Australia’s 120,000 doctors will have to draw up a professional development plan each year and spend at least 25 hours measuring their outcome and reviewing their performance.
They will have to spend 12.5 hours on traditional educational activities.
