A young girl’s nasal obstruction turned out to have an unusual cause when scans revealed a wayward tooth growing on the inside of her nose.

The nine-year-old girl presented to a hospital in Manesar, in India, following three months of pain, inflammation and nasal congestion, according to a BMJ Case Report.

“On clinical examination, after raising the nasal tip, it was possible to observe a yellowish-white cylindrical structure which resembled the root of a tooth inside the right nostril,” the authors wrote.

“On probing, it had a hard and gritty sensation and was fixed to the floor of the right nasal cavity.”
