CVD kills 1 in 4 cancer survivors: Australian study

Cancer survivorship care should should include early recognition and management of CV risk factors, researchers say

Cardiovascular disease claims the lives of more than a quarter of those who’ve had cancer, but have survived five years’ post diagnosis, an Australian study shows.

Mortality among those who survive five years’ post cancer diagnosis is higher than the general population, and CVD accounts for half of the non-cancer deaths, Adelaide’s Flinders University researchers say.
