Deadline looms for health staff to have COVID-19 vax

Most have had their first dose and those who choose not to 'probably shouldn't be in the health system' says NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard

A “small minority” of NSW Health staff who have decided against having a COVID-19 vaccination may need to look for another job as the deadline for having at least one dose passes on Thursday.

An estimated 97.5% of the health authority’s 140,000 staff will have complied with the state requirement that they have at least one vaccination before 30 September.

Under the public health order, staff have until the end of November to complete their vaccination.

NSW Minister for Health Brad Hazzard said while health workers had “responded very well” to the requirement, those without a medical exemption would probably need to look elsewhere for a job.
