Delayed anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is associated with an increased risk of new meniscal tears in under-18s but not adults, according to a US study published in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine.

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore examined whether and how delay of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is associated with the risk for new meniscal tears, which were defined as those visualised arthroscopically that were not detected on MRI.
