Department unveils new four-tiered aged care PIP

The Aged Care PIP is being split into four tiers, with GPs who provide 180 services a year entitled to a new maximum $10,000 payment.
The full details of the reform, designed to attract a further 1,100 GPs into making regular aged care visits, have not been released since it was announced in the Federal Budget last week.
But the Federal Department Health has told Australian Doctor that from July the two tiers used in the PIP scheme will become four.
Currently, GPs at PIP-eligible practices who provide 60 services in aged care homes over the financial year receive a $1500 payment, while those who providing 140 services receive a further $3500.
