Doctor accuses hospital of discriminating against him because he was a man

In a complaint lodged with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, he accuses a female registrar of slapping him

A doctor has accused a hospital of discriminating against him because of his gender, alleging his female supervisor tried to “control and subordinate” him.

The case was launched in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, where the resident claimed he was targeted by a “large number” of colleagues while working at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne.

“[He alleges] that over a period of months and years he was discriminated against because he was a man, and victimised about complaints that he made about this, and about being sexually harassed,” the tribunal wrote.

One accusation against a female registrar, who became his supervisor in August 2021, was that she exhibited abusive and controlling behaviours towards male junior doctors “but mainly him”.
