Doctor banned over scripts for sex workers

A radiation oncologist who engaged sex workers and then prescribed them drugs of addiction, sometimes on a script pad stolen from another doctor, has been banned for at least 14 months.
The doctor was found guilty of professional misconduct and reprimanded by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal over his prescribing to the vulnerable women without a clinical assessment.
The tribunal heard the doctor was working as a registrar at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital in 2014 when he engaged the services of four sex workers, variously prescribing them diazepines and oxycodone without keeping records.
To cover his tracks, the doctor removed the hospital copy of the prescription, according to the tribunal.
