Doctor says govt telling ‘porky pies’ over IV fluid shortage despite improving supply

An “embarrassing” shortage of IV fluids appears to be resolving, but at least one doctor is blaming bureaucratic bungling rather than international supply issues.
State and federal health ministers said on Friday that the shortage was easing, although supply constraints would likely persist until next year.
They outlined the steps they were taking, including national co-ordination on getting IV fluids to hospitals.
They also “sought to provide reassurance to all Australians that supply challenges are being addressed and that health services are continuing”.
