Doctor burnout improves with life coach: study

It’s not only financial CEO types who may benefit from professional coaching. For the first time, researchers have looked at whether doctors could use a little life coaching to address burnout.
Just six sessions with a professional coach yielded promising results for a group of US doctors, who reported less overall burnout and a higher quality of life, Mayo Clinic researchers report.
Among those who had coaching, emotional exhaustion scores reduced by a mean of 5.2 points and increased by 1.5 among those who had not been coached.
In the study, 88 physicians who worked in the departments of medicine, family medicine and paediatrics at Mayo Clinic facilities across several states volunteered to take part in the research.
