Doctor calls for period products to be supplied to hospital staff

A leading intensivist is pushing for period products to be provided in all hospital staff toilets, so doctors and nurses don’t have to “bleed through their uniforms when they are trying to do their job”.
Dr Rosie Baruah, an intensivist and anaesthetist from Edinburgh, Scotland, says access to tampons and pads at work is a basic hygiene necessity.
Doctors often worked a long way from lockers and personal belongings or worked after hours when it was impossible to buy products if needed, she said.
In some cases they had resorted to using patients’ incontinence pads or toilet paper.
