At the beginning Dr Cam McLaren provided voluntary assisted dying services to terminally ill patients for free, as an altruistic act given the pain and suffering they were experiencing.

But as more patients came forward for his care, and the many hours it involved became clearer, he began charging — and he encourages other euthanasia doctors to do the same.
