Doctor falsely accused of rum theft wins police apology

A doctor labelled as wanted on a Victoria Police Facebook page, then arrested when he voluntarily went to the police station, has won his battle with police for an apology. 

Back in 2020, rehabilitation specialist Dr Prasannan Ponganamparambile was named as the main suspect in an alleged bottle shop theft despite being pictured holding a copy of the receipt for his purchase on the CCTV footage.
