Doctor with long history of suicide attempts wins battle to treat patients

A doctor diagnosed with autism who has made multiple suicide attempts and has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act will be allowed to treat patients under strict conditions.
The decision by regulators is likely to bring an end to a long fight by the doctor, who has argued she has become a “test case” in determining the rights of doctors with serious mental health problems to practise if they pose no threat to patients.
Her identity is subject to a suppression order by the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, which ruled that it would be inappropriate for any member of the public to read details of her “extensive personal, and often tragic, history”.
