Doctor ‘recovering well’ after alleged stabbing in hospital ED

A doctor, critically injured in an alleged hospital stabbing, is continuing to improve as details are released about a review into safety measures in EDs.
The Tasmanian health department has announced the inquiry will be headed by security specialist and former Tasmania Police commander Geoff Smith, following the alleged stabbing of a doctor.
A 17-year-old boy is facing charges of wounding, two counts of assault and threatening police after the incident at the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie on 9 April.
The doctor, initially treated by colleagues and airlifted to Hobart in a critical condition, was now “recovering well”, Attorney-General Elise Archer told state Parliament on Tuesday.
