Doctor says he was sacked for speaking out on quarantine policy

A doctor claims he was fired from his role assessing travellers arriving at an Australian airport for blowing the whistle about the Federal Government’s COVID-19 quarantine policy.
Dr Paul Finlay, an emergency doctor, was conducting health checks on returned travellers at Sydney Airport when he publicly criticised the use of hotel quarantine in the Australian newspaper.
On 5 April, he was quoted in the newspaper as describing the Government’s approach as “iron-fisted enforcement”.
Dr Finlay had been assessing pregnant women, people with dementia and those with severe mental health conditions, to see if they were medically suitable for hotel quarantine.
