Doctor says she was ordered out of hospital in lockdown ‘humiliation’

Prominent psychiatrist Dr Helen Schultz from Victoria claims she was ushered out of a NSW hospital due to COVID-19 fears
Dr Helen Schultz.

A Melbourne psychiatrist has described her humiliation at being marched from a NSW hospital where she’s working as a locum because she’d spent time in Victoria in the last 14 days.

In a series of angry tweets, Dr Helen Schultz claims she was walked off the Newcastle hospital’s premises so quickly she was unable to do a clinical handover, with her protests ignored.

She had been a locum at the Hunter New England Mental Health Service based on the Mater campus for 10 days when the incident occurred on Friday.

“Just publicly walked off the premises…for being in Victoria last 14 days,” Dr Schultz wrote on Twitter.
