A UK doctor has shared a terrifying account by a dying patient of what it’s like to be left breathless from COVID-19.

Dr Simon Tavabie, a palliative care registrar from The Royal London Hospital, recalled how the female patient described, between gasps for air, what it felt like to be “so terrified and so breathless”.

“She said that it was like when you are swimming in the ocean and you swim just a bit too deep for the amount of air you have in your lungs,” Dr Tavabie recalled during an interview with ITV News.

“And you get to a point where you look back up at the surface and you see it and you know that you can’t get there in time.
