Doctor suspended over patient pregnancy in long-term care facility
A doctor involved in the care of a woman with serious disabilities who gave birth unexpectedly in a long-term care facility in the US has been suspended, while police have charged a nurse with sexual assault.
Media reports state that the woman’s primary care physician, Dr Thanh Nguyen, was suspended following the birth late last year at the Hacienda HealthCare clinic near Phoenix, Arizona.
Phoenix Police also announced they had arrested 36-year-old nurse Nathan Sutherland on sexual assault charges.
According to the news site Arizona’s Family, Dr Nguyen was suspended by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System on 15 January.
