Doctor who assaulted GP wife free to practise: UK

A military doctor with a ‘commando mentality’ and under stress after treating child victims of the 2017 Manchester bomb has escaped sanction after assaulting his GP wife.
The doctor was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct but escaped with his registration intact because he was under a “highly unusual and rare” combination of stressors at the time.
He also had a ‘commando mentality’, believing that as a male, military member and doctor, he could handle more than he actually could, according to the UK’s Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.
The registrar in rehabilitation medicine swore at his wife, grabbed her upper arms and pushed her backwards during an argument about her failure to pick up dog faeces.
