Controversial Liberal Party candidate Dr Julie Sladden has lost her bid for a seat in Tasmania’s Parliament.

After a fortnight-long vote count, the former GP narrowly missed out on a seat in the electorate of Bass.

Her preselection as a Liberal Party candidate was slammed by the state AMA, which described her stance on COVID-19 vaccinations as “misleading and dangerous”.

Dr Sladden had refused COVID-19 vaccinations during the pandemic claiming they were unnecessary, potentially harmful and did not prevent transmission.
