Tasmanian and federal AMA merger on the cards

AMA Tasmania could become a branch of the federal AMA, rather than an independent entity, with a possible member vote this year.
Its president, GP Dr John Saul, said there was no financial or membership crisis.
But with just four staff members, AMA Tasmania wanted more support.
“There are great opportunities if we share resources with federal AMA: we can improve our efficiency with our IT and administration,” Dr Saul said.
