A cabinet minister has posted flyers to her constituents naming 20 GP practices that do not universally bulk-bill, which doctors have called aggressive and irresponsible.

The list of names was part of a printed newsletter sent by federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Julie Collins, alongside other local announcements like new childcare centres.

Under the label “Who is bulk-billing?”, it named seven fully bulk-billing clinics in her Tasmanian electorate of Franklin alongside 20 that it said were “not yet 100% bulk-billing”.

“I congratulate the local GPs who have signed on to this service. If clinics in Sydney and Melbourne can offer bulk-billing, practices can in Tasmania,” it said.
