Doctors depicted as money hungry in ‘disgusting’ campaign: AMA
The AMA says it is “appalled” by a health union’s TV ad which depicts doctors as money hungry and uncaring, and taking an unfair portion of health budgets.
Launched on Sunday, the Health Services Union (HSU) advertisement appears to show a man having a cardiac event as he waits for an ambulance.
Against the backdrop of treatment and ambulance delays, a voice over says, “But some people are making a lot of money — it just doesn’t add up” as images are shown of a doctor taking a wad of cash, and a fancy car with ‘doctor1’ number plates.
The 30-second ad spearheads a campaign calling for a royal commission into the NSW health budget.
