Doctors face 3% hike in registration fees

AHPRA says the increase is in line with inflation with the cash needed to cover the growing costs of regulating the profession

The fees for doctors to remain on the medical register are rising by $24, to $835.

The 3% increase, announced by AHPRA last week, covers the 2021-22 registration period, starting on 1 October.

The rise is in line with inflation, AHPRA says.

It argues the money is needed to cover the costs of regulating doctors given the scheme is entirely dependent on fees and receives no separate funding from governments.
