Doctors face rehashed accusations in latest $10 billion Medicare ‘rort’ report

Doctors have no excuse for not 'mastering' Medicare items, the Health Services Union report suggests.

GPs have been slammed for failing to “master” Medicare items in the latest iteration of a Medicare rort report that claims up to $10 billion a year is lost to fraud.

The extraordinary attack was made by the Health Services Union (HSU) in a document titled Billions Down the Drain.

It claims $1.5-$10 billion a year is lost to Medicare fraud — as much as one-third of annual Medicare spending.

That equates to $5000 a minute being lost through Medicare fraud, the report states.
