Doctors among creditors owed $7.2 million after medical company collapses

More than 200 doctors and other practitioners are owed a collective $7.2 million after a company that contracted them to write expert medical reports went bust.
The company eReports, based in Melbourne, had agreements with more than 400 doctors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to write medical reports for WorkSafe, insurers and law firms after assessing claimants via telehealth.
But this month, the Federal Court of Australia approved closure of the company after hearing it could not pay its debts, including $1.5 million to the ATO.
Court documents show eReports owes one orthopaedic surgeon $1.47 million and another surgeon $376,666.
