Doctors furious at GP’s suspension over ‘promised’ laptop: UK

Doctors in the UK are up in arms over the treatment of a GP suspended for a month for using “one inappropriate word” in trying to get hold of a laptop for work purposes.
More than 2300 doctors have signed a letter condemning the suspension of Manchester GP Dr Manjula Arora, claiming it is another example of the “unfair treatment” meted out to overseas-trained medics.
A medical tribunal hearing in May heard that Dr Arora had told the IT department at Mastercall Healthcare, an out-of-hours provider where she worked, that she had been “promised” a laptop by another doctor when one became available.
In an email to her, the doctor told Dr Arora that no laptops were available but that he would “note your interest when the next rollout happens”.
