On TV, overworked doctors juggle patient care with bomb threats, fires and other catastrophes — all while enjoying a thrilling love life.

But in reality, Sydney GP Dr Aajuli Shukla says doctors face a “unique set of challenges” when it comes to matters of the heart.

As a Medical Journal of Australia deputy medical editor, she stresses her conclusions are based on anecdotes rather than hard quantitative data.
