Doctors’ passports, work histories, logbooks and professional credentials leaked in health dept bungle
A state health department has mistakenly released personal details of almost 70 doctors, including their passport details and medical credentials.
In total, some 600 staff members were caught up in the bungle when NSW Health inadvertently made the material accessible on the websites of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
The public could access information that should have been password-protected, including documents relating to current, former and prospective senior medical officers who had been assessed by the state’s Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee between 2020 and 2025.
A doctor, who was not named, told The Guardian the material included passports, driver’s licences and Medicare cards, along with certificates with proof of credentials, work history, logbooks, letters of reference, and AHPRA and medical college registrations.
