Doctors rally behind TGA staff targeted by threats

Doctors have joined a group of leading medical bodies to condemn “threats, intimidation and harassment” reportedly directed at TGA leadership and staff.
The RACGP, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Rural Doctors Association of Australia are among 26 health and medical organisations to sign a letter supporting the watchdog’s role during the pandemic.
At least 60 leading researchers and individual doctors have also signed the statement, describing reports of threats against TGA as unacceptable and concerning.
“We express full support for the vital work the TGA does to assess and regulate new medicines and vaccines,” states the letter, organised by the Public Health Association of Australia.
