Doctors renew call for dispensing changes dubbed ‘devastating’ by pharmacy guild
Doctor groups have urged the Federal Government to stare down the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and let patients collect two months of prescription medicines at once.
The PBAC recommended the government make the change in 2018, saying it would be more convenient for patients without compromising safety if limited to 143 medicines for chronic conditions.
These included various statins and ARBs, among other drugs.
At the time, the guild was unimpressed — to put it lightly — saying the drop in dispensing fees would spell financial ruin for pharmacies.
