Doctors reveal how they managed an unusual mRNA vax reaction

The elderly patient developed third cranial nerve palsy after the Moderna vaccine, say the Italian case authors

Doctors are reporting the first case of third cranial nerve palsy following the Moderna mRNA vaccine, along with a unique strategy to help ensure patients can still be fully immunised after adverse events.

Aged 88, the patient presented to the ED with objective dizziness, diplopia and gait instability, three days after a first dose of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine was administered in his right deltoid.
