Doctors reverse type 1 diabetes with stem cell transplant: report
The woman's abdominal muscle was injected with the equivalent of 1.5 million islet cells.
A 25-year-old woman with hard-to-control type 1 diabetes began producing her own insulin just months after an autologous transplant of reprogrammed stem cells.
She was the first person to undergo an autologous transplantation of chemically induced pluripotent stem-cell-derived islets (CiPSC islets), authors write in the journal Cell.
