Doctors say genital cellulitis flagged Australia’s first monkeypox case

A new case report has revealed the clinical detective work facing a GP and hospital doctors in Melbourne who diagnosed Australia’s first patient with monkeypox.
The outbreak of the infection has been running since May and has so far been reported by 27 non-endemic countries.
The patient presented to the GP’s clinic in Melbourne last month after returning from Europe.
He said a genital rash had developed five days after unprotected insertive anal intercourse with four casual male partners.
