Doctors slam Australia Day award for men’s rights campaigner

Doctors are calling for men’s rights campaigner Bettina Arndt’s Australia Day honour to be revoked, alleging that her work downplays the prevalence and health effects of violence against women.
Ms Arndt was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) on Sunday for her “significant service to the community as a social commentator, and to gender equity through advocacy for men”.
A sex therapist and former journalist, Ms Arndt is the author of a book called #MenToo and describes herself as “making media appearances about men’s issues and the anti-male feminist agenda”.
The citation for her award references her work as an author and columnist, but also her controversial 2018 campus tour, which triggered protests by university students after she spoke about the “manufactured campus rape crisis” at Australian universities.
