Doctors warn others to go easy on the ‘vaxxie’

As Professor Brendan Murphy prepares to roll up his sleeve to receive his COVID-19 vaccination on television, overseas doctors are warning that the ‘vaxxie’ can come with side effects.
Around the world, doctors and nurses are posting vaxxies — the selfie taken mid- or post-injection — to their social media accounts to encourage others to have a COVID-19 vaccination.
In Australia, Department of Health secretary Professor Murphy says he’ll invite the cameras in for his first dose to promote vaccine take-up, as will Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
“I’m certainly going to have the AstraZeneca vaccine and I’ll probably have it on TV,” Professor Murphy told a webinar on Monday.
