Doctors are urging caution over the experimental antibody-based drugs taken by US President Donald Trump to treat coronavirus.

President Trump, who left hospital after just three days of being treated for COVID-19, has promised to make the drug cocktail from Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc free to all US coronavirus patients.

However, doctors say more data is needed to assess the treatment’s efficacy before wider use is allowed.

A few days after his discharge, President Trump posted a video saying Regeneron’s REGN-COV2 — a combination of two monoclonal antibodies — had “cured” him of coronavirus.
