Doctors win temporary delay on pharmacist prescribing push after Post-it note backlash
The Pharmacy Board of Australia’s public consultation on extending pharmacist prescribing rights has been temporarily delayed until the new year following pressure from the AMA and RACGP.
The board is currently seeking feedback on the creation of new prescribing standards for pharmacists.
Last month, both the AMA and RACGP savaged the management of a stakeholder workshop in Melbourne, describing how doctors had been told to write their concerns on Post-it notes and stick them on a wall at the back of the room.
They went on to say that the forum seemed to be engineered to prevent “dissent or even open dialogue or conversation”.
